You can now chart and alert on CockroachDB cluster health in Atatus, including node liveness, SQL activity, storage and replication. CockroachDB monitoring is bundled with the Atatus Infrastructure Agent and reads the Prometheus-compatible endpoint that every CockroachDB node already serves, the same way Prometheus monitoring works.
Point the agent at a node's HTTP port, set a namespace and restart the agent. The metrics arrive as custom metrics with the namespace as a prefix, so they stay apart from other services and work in dashboards and alert rules. Setup steps are in the CockroachDB integration docs.
What you can do
- Nothing new to install: The integration ships with the Atatus Infrastructure Agent on Linux and Windows. Add a cockroachdb.yaml entry and restart the agent.
- Node health: Track live nodes and SQL connections to notice when a node drops out or connections pile up.
- SQL and KV activity: Follow query and key-value operation metrics over time to see how load on the cluster changes.
- Storage and replication: Watch storage, Raft and replication metrics to see when the cluster falls behind.
- Dashboards and alerts: Use CockroachDB metrics in dashboards and alert rules like any other custom metric.
- Check before you add: Run curl against the node's /_status/vars endpoint to see exactly what the agent will collect.
